Neurological diseases >>>> Increased intracranial pressure are signs
Increased intracranial pressure are signs.
Often the headache has a course that conventional methods of pain relief are not able to stop. This headache may be a sign of increased intracranial pressure.
Intracranial pressure is the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid that contains the brain. Under normal conditions, the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid correlates with atmospheric pressure and does not cause unpleasant sensations to a person. But an increase in the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid is transmitted to the medulla and increases its compression.
The most typical signs of increased intracranial pressure:
- headache of a compressive character in the form of a hoop,
- increased photosensitivity,
- nausea and urge to vomit, worsening of the condition when tilting the head, turning to the sides,
- the headache may increase gradually,
- headache may develop in the area of the eyes when they move,
- conventional analgesics do not relieve pain,
- the appearance of visual effects is possible - aura (glow) around objects or the space itself,
- when lying down, the headache and general ill health may worsen.
An attack of increased intracranial pressure can be caused by a change in meteorological conditions, bright light, spasm of cerebral vessels, nervous tension, tension of the visual apparatus.
Blood pressure may not change during headaches caused by increased intracranial pressure.
When observing signs of increased intracranial pressure, they seek help from a doctor - a neurologist.
