Side hurts when running.
Jogging is a type of physical activity that you will do even against your will. Probably there is no such person who, at least once in his life, did not run after the departing transport. It is at such moments that we demonstrate all our possibilities of sports readiness, and, at times, we are faced with a very painful phenomenon - pain in the side.
Do not think that the pain in your side when running accompanies only you - even well-trained professional runners face this problem from time to time. And if there is a need to pass an exam or a running test, then the pain in the side that develops during running can significantly harm the indicators.
Why does my side hurt when running? Whatever physical effort we make, its consequences are blood flow to the muscles serving this effort, and to the organs located in the area of loading of these muscles. Running is one of the most ambitious physical activities, in which almost all the fibers of the muscle corset are involved, including the smooth muscles of the internal organs. And since the work of muscle tissue is built on the alternation of tension and relaxation, the internal organs are at the mercy of the tension of their own smooth muscle tissue and experience colossal compression.
Simultaneously with the moment of compression, blood flows into the organs during running in a much larger volume than expected, and a bursting effect appears - the organ begins to increase in size, pressing on adjacent tissue structures.
Everything inside the body is very compact, and there is no room to compensate for the increase in organ size. And a temporary situation is created when the internal muscles and smooth muscles of the organs themselves exert pressure, and the organ presses on the surrounding tissues with its increased size. This process cannot be painless.
Why does pain develop in the right or left side when running? In a person, in addition to the heart muscle, which loves an intense blood supply and, as a rule, is trained to withstand sufficiently high levels of blood flow during exertion, there are two organs that, in terms of their functionality, are hematopoietic organs and are equipped with a well-branched circulatory system - these are the spleen and liver. Both of these organs are located slightly on the side: on the right is the liver, on the left is the spleen. It is they who suffer primarily from the intense rush of blood when running.
Side pain can develop with intense walking, and not only when running, but the causes of the pain syndrome will be the same - rush of blood and compression of organs. When walking or running in a hurry, the area of the appendix may also hurt, to which blood also rushes, and if there is a hidden current inflammation in this part of the intestine, the case may end in acute pain and an attack of appendicitis.
How to stop side pain while running? To get rid of pain in the side when running, it is necessary to stop physical effort, that is, you need to stop running. The blood will gradually redistribute, the muscles will relax, and the pain symptom will "come to naught." But if after 10-15 minutes the pain does not release, then the internal organs continue to be in a state of spasm and cannot relax on their own. In this case, No-spa, a drug that relaxes smooth muscles, will help stop the pain in the side due to running and get rid of the pain symptom.
How to prevent side pain when running? For this, a preliminary warm-up is necessary - intensive movements of the body and legs in order to disperse the blood through all organs evenly and prepare them for the upcoming load.
