Dermatitis and eczema of the eyelids.
Skin manifestations of allergic reactions are often reflected in the skin around the eyes and eyelids. With an acute allergic reaction, dermatitis develops on the eyelids, with chronic allergic reactions - eczema.
Any exogenous and endogenous factor can be the cause of eyelid skin lesions. Most often, external influences such as dustiness in the room, aerosols, synthetic detergents, fumes of harmful substances, cosmetics, skin care products provoke eyelid skin allergies.
Medicines and food components play an important role in the activation of eyelid skin dermatitis. Internal factors that can provoke dermatitis and eczema of the eyelids originate in chronic metabolic disorders, the digestive function of the gastrointestinal tract, in the spread of infection from one focus to other tissues, including the skin of the eyelids.
Infectious agents play an important role in the development of eyelid dermatitis. The skin is inhabited by a conditionally pathogenic microflora, for which the slightest damage to the skin (friction, scratching, scratching) makes it possible to increase reproduction. Staphylococcus aureus is especially dangerous in such situations.
Signs of eyelid dermatitis and eczema:
- An allergic reaction begins to appear with the formation of erythema on the eyelids, swelling of the skin.
- On the skin of the eyelids, small papular and vesicular rashes are observed.
- The skin begins to get wet (serous exudate is released),
- The skin dries up and the exudate turns into yellow-white crusts,
- The skin cracks and hurts,
- The temperature may rise locally at the affected area,
- Exudate also accumulates along the edge of the eyelid, which sticks the eyelids together,
- With a chronic allergic manifestation, the skin of the eyelids periodically heals with practically no traces,
- But in cases of continuous contact with an allergenic irritant, there may not be periods of remission,
- In the case of attachment of pathogenic microflora, serous exudate can turn into purulent.
Treatment of dermatitis and eczema of the eyelids is carried out according to the identified factor that supports the allergic reaction.
