What are transfusion solutions and media?
It's no secret that our body is practically a collection of fluids: water in cells and intercellular space, blood plasma and lymph. When the body experiences a shortage (the filling of the channel decreases), a deficiency of tissue fluid, dangerous conditions are created for the work of all body systems - a state of shock. In such cases, transfusion solutions come to the rescue. These are environments that are chemically similar to natural body fluids.
When is transfusion necessary?
In what cases are transfusion media used:
- for infectious diseases with extensive infections of organs and tissues and high virulence of an infectious microorganism,
- to increase blood pressure, if it is impossible to increase it with vascular drugs,
- with hemodialysis,
- with hemosorption,
- with injuries accompanied by intense blood loss (including internal bleeding),
- when carrying out planned and urgent operations to replenish blood volumes,
- in case of impossibility of oral intake of food.
There are contraindications to the introduction of transfusion solutions: renal failure and kidney disease, in which it will be difficult to excrete a large amount of fluid from the body, since all transfusion solutions, having completed their functions, are excreted by the kidneys.
