Nitrate poisoning - signs.
Nitrate poisoning is not a very rare occurrence, but it is poorly recognized by both the victim himself and the emergency doctor.
Common food products - fresh vegetables, fruits and berries are the cause of gastrointestinal tract disorders. The trend of growing vegetables in greenhouse conditions in regions where nature has not created favorable conditions for their growth leads to the fact that the growth and ripening of "artificial vegetables, berries, fruits" is stimulated by increasing doses of nutrient chemicals (nitrogenous fertilizers).
At certain concentrations, nitrogen is always present in the soil - this is a necessary factor for seed germination and plant growth. But the abundance and lack of control in fertilizing the soil with nitrogenous chemicals leads to the fact that their surplus accumulates in the structures of the plant itself (it cannot dose nitrogen consumption), some of which are edible and go into food.
Outwardly, it is impossible to determine how much nitrates a particular vegetable or fruit contains. To a greater extent, it is the green parts of plants that are exposed to the accumulation of nitrates, which means that such plant products as cucumbers, root vegetables, lettuce leaves, herbs for spices, unripe vegetables and fruits, cabbage, melons and much more are potential sources of danger of nitrate poisoning. Particularly rich in excess nitrates are those parts of green plants that are adjacent to the stem and foliage, as well as heads of cabbage.
Lovers of off-season consumption of fresh plant products are at great risk. It is possible to determine the content of nitrates in a plant only by laboratory means, which is used for control by conscientious sellers who insure the quality of their products and position them as environmentally friendly. Plant products of unknown origin can become a source of food poisoning - nitrate poisoning.
Signs of nitrate poisoning:
- general weakness,
- headache,
- increased pulse and heart rate,
- shortness of breath,
- dizziness,
- noise effects in the hearing organs,
- nausea or vomiting,
- stool disorder - diarrhea,
- severe nitrate poisoning is accompanied by a change in the color of the skin of the face - it casts blue (oxygen starvation of tissues), convulsions, painful phenomena in the liver.
Cardinal assistance in nitrate poisoning can be provided only in a hospital, but in case of suspicion of nitrate poisoning, first-aid assistance consists in calling a vomiting reflex, drinking plenty of water (plain water, magnesium sulfate solution), taking activated charcoal powder, taking several tablets of ascorbic acid (she to some extent slows down the conversion of nitrogen-containing compounds into toxic substances).
