Mushroom poisoning - ambulance.
Mushroom poisoning is one of the worst food poisoning. Even great mushroom connoisseurs can stumble upon a mushroom that is mutated and looks like an edible, but can cause severe poisoning. No matter how insured you are against mistakes when picking mushrooms, there is always a chance of getting poisoned. For this reason, it is worthwhile to understand well what to do if the symptoms of poisoning resemble mushroom poisoning.
In case of food poisoning, it is always necessary to analyze what kind of food caused the intoxication of the body. These questions are certainly asked by the doctor to the patient who is conscious, or to the relatives of the patient who is unconscious.
Therefore, when faced with poor general health, first of all think about whether you have used mushrooms for food. It doesn't matter how the mushrooms were prepared, at home or in a special production environment. There is always a risk that among the edible mushrooms, a piece of inedible toxic mushroom will be carried away. For example, the venom of the pale toadstool is so highly toxic that even the mere contact of a common edible mushroom with a broken toadstool is enough to turn the edible mushroom into a fatal poisoning.
Each organism suffers poisoning in different ways, especially elderly people, children and people with weakened health conditions suffer and have severe consequences of poisoning.
Why is mushroom poisoning scary? In case of mushroom poisoning during the period of manifestation of symptoms of intoxication in the body, such a period of time occurs when the poisoning acquires a latent course (asymptomatic). On a person, this is reflected in an imaginary improvement in health, which leads to erroneous behavior - not contacting a toxicologist. The latent period is followed by a period of full intoxication, when the irreversible process of liver destruction, kidney failure, cardiovascular failure begins, and, as a result, death.
Signs of mushroom poisoning in the early period are similar to common food poisoning:
- nausea and vomiting,
- temperature increase,
- pain in the gastrointestinal tract,
- upset stool (diarrhea),
- loss of consciousness is possible, convulsions are possible, confusion, delirium, hallucinations are possible.
If you drew a parallel between these symptoms and the mushrooms eaten the day before, call an ambulance immediately, and before she arrives, try to induce a gag reflex by drinking 2-3 pints (1-1.5 liters) of water for gastric lavage.
But it should be borne in mind that the symptoms of mushroom poisoning can grow gradually during the day, which sometimes misleads a person, and precious time is lost, which will undoubtedly cost life or lead to disability at best.
