Therapeutic nutrition for diseases of the teeth and oral cavity.
The oral cavity, including the teeth, is an important functional organ in the digestive system. Digestion, contrary to popular belief about the stomach and intestines as the basis of digestion, begins with the oral cavity. As efficiently as the digestive process takes place in the oral cavity, it will continue painlessly and efficiently in the rest of the digestive tract. The main role in the initial stages of digestion is played by the teeth and the dentoalveolar system (they grind and grind food) and saliva, which begins the process of breaking down food, making it digestible for the stomach and further for the intestines.
The health of the teeth is important for proper digestion (their integrity and the ability to withstand the loads when chewing - shredding foods). Healthy teeth and jaw bones (as well as all dentoalveolar structures located in the oral cavity and associated directly with the stability and endurance of teeth) and the correct chemical composition of saliva play a primary role in digestion and, accordingly, in the health of the body as a whole.
Proper nutrition is just as important for the health of teeth, jaws and oral tissues as for any internal organs. Therefore, a diet for diseases of the teeth and oral cavity is easier to carry out as a prophylaxis than as a treatment.
Vitamins D, C, P, B as well as microelements Calcium, Phosphorus and Fluorine are constituents of tooth and bone tissue.
Calcium can be found in food: dairy (cottage cheese, cheese, milk, yoghurt, milk fat), cabbage, carrots, nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, cashews), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin), seeds (poppy, caraway seeds, cereals), oranges.
Vitamin D is sunlight (it is formed itself in human tissues during photosynthesis), it is found in such foods: in fish oil (including fatty fish), in fish roe, in the liver, egg yolk, in butter, cream and sour cream with a high percentage of fat, in virgin and unmodified vegetable oils (sunflower, olive, corn, flaxseed).
Phosphorus is a constituent of foods such as raw eggs, liver, caviar, fish and seafood, and algae.
Fluorine is a complex food element that can be found in a digestible form in water. For Fluoride to play a role in preventing the development of diseases of bone tissue and dental tissues, its concentration in water must be no less than 0.03–0.04 ounces. If ordinary drinking water does not meet the necessary requirements, to replenish fluoride in the body, they regularly drink mineral water containing the element Fluorine (artificially fluorinated or from natural sources).
Vitamins C, P, B are necessary for the treatment of the gums and the prevention of diseases of the oral mucosa. These vitamins play an important role in the treatment of inflammation and restoration of the tissue structure of the mucous membrane and ligamentous apparatus of the teeth (periodontal). A large amount of such vitamins is found in berries or fruits of plants (rose hips, black currants, citrus fruits), in sauerkraut brine. For the assimilation of ascorbic acid, the substance Citrine, which is contained in citrus fruits and is not destroyed by digestive enzymes, is very useful, having time to enhance the effect of vitamin C and strengthen the vascular wall (this prevents capillary bleeding and relieves interstitial edema).
B vitamins can be found in large quantities in plant foods, especially in cereals, seeds, seeds and nuts, as well as in live yeast (drinking yeast, yeast baked goods, yeast-based drinks (kombucha, kvass, beer)).
In medical nutrition for diseases of the teeth and tissues of the oral cavity, it is very important to choose the method of preparation of food products and their consistency. If the teeth are destroyed and restored with fillings, then it makes sense not to load them with increased chewing of food. This is achieved by crushing food and its puree-like consistency, which helps to reduce the load on the teeth and dentition chewing apparatus.
You should not use digested foods (do not boil down useful substances from them) in cooking, it is better to choose the principle of cooking - steam or bake. So you can make mashed potatoes from fruits, vegetables and berries - bake and crush to a puree state. It is very useful to use jelly, soufflé, jelly, and creams in a therapeutic and prophylactic diet for diseases of the teeth and tissues of the oral cavity. This kind of consistency of dishes allows you not to injure the inflamed oral mucosa and not to load the teeth with excessive chewing until the diseases of the teeth and mucous membranes are cured.
