Granulating periodontitis - signs and treatment.
Like any disease in the body, tooth disease and its safety depend on the timely visit to the doctor. But sometimes the symptoms of dental disease may not be given much importance, which ultimately leads to their loss. Granulating periodontitis of the tooth belongs to this kind of dental disease, which, with timely treatment, has every chance of preserving the tooth. How to recognize granulating periodontitis in time and prevent a tooth from dying?
With the development of granulating periodontitis, granulation tissue begins to grow in the area of the apex of the tooth root. This gradually leads to the death of cells that form the tooth socket, destroys the periosteum and bone tissue of the jaw.
The reasons for granulating periodontitis are related:
- with ingestion of infectious agents into the root canal,
- With an infection in the periodontium of a tooth from adjacent teeth,
- with tooth injuries,
- with periodontal injuries (areas of tooth attachment in the bone tissue of the jaw),
- with unsatisfactory treatment of pulpitis, in particular of the root canal,
- with root trauma with anchors and intra-root stump tabs.
Signs of granulating periodontitis:
- Redness of the mucous membrane in the area of the problem tooth;
- Regular pain in the gum area that occurs without stress on the teeth;
- When biting on a tooth or at the time of chewing food, pain syndrome develops;
- There may be slight mobility of the problem tooth;
- When biting, pus may be released from the periodontal pocket.
Treatment of granulating periodontitis requires several approaches and a time interval between them (several visits to the doctor). At the first stage, the pulp chamber of the problem tooth is opened, the canals are cleaned, an antiseptic preparation is placed in the root canals, and the tooth is temporarily superficially filled. On the second visit, the root canals are washed and sanitized, the tooth is temporarily filled to give time and find out if there will be an exacerbation of the disease. At the third stage, all medicinal pastes and medicines are removed, the root canals of the tooth are filled with gutta-percha and a permanent filling is installed. If conservative treatment fails, the tooth must be removed.
