Solar erythema multiforme.
Solar exudative erythema multiforme belongs to a number of photodermatoses that occur during solar ultraviolet irradiation. The disease occurs during the spring-summer period, when the sun's rays are most active. This erythema is called multiforme, since its characteristic rashes can appear in the form of plaques, hyperemic edematous spots or nodules.
The causes of the appearance of elements of solar erythema multiforme on the skin surface are associated with pathologies of the endocrine glands, sensitization (sensitivity) of the body to various allergens and the general state of the autonomic nervous system.
Signs of solar erythema multiforme:
- On open areas of the body (face, body, limbs), elements are poured, most often, in the form of plaques;
- The plaques are oval or round in shape and up to 1.5 centimeters in size;
- The plaque in the center is colored bluish-pink, and has a reddish edging around the perimeter;
- If the rash appears in the form of bubbles, then their contents have a serous or hemorrhagic exudate;
- Bubbles burst with the subsequent formation of erosion and crusts;
- There is a burning sensation and itching in the area of erythema elements;
- Often combined with other photodermatosis or solar erythema .
When diagnosing the disease, differentiation is carried out with diseases similar in clinical indicators: pemphigus, simple exudative erythema multiforme, dermatitis herpitiformis, erythema sulfanilamide (drug allergy).
Treatment of solar erythema multiforme is carried out with a complex of drugs, using for these purposes:
- Vitamin therapy (group B, vitamin PP, vitamin C),
- Hyposensitizing and antihistamines,
- According to indications, anti-febrile drugs and tranquilizers are used,
- According to indications, hormonal ointments or creams are used.
If you have a tendency to develop solar erythema multiforme, it is necessary to use protective creams, cover the skin from the sun, follow a diet and do not use drugs and other products containing substances that increase the photosensitivity of the skin before going out into the open sun.
