How to get rid of bad habits?
As a rule, bad habits are part of a person's entertainment, and to one degree or another give him pleasure. And although most people subconsciously understand that it is necessary to part with bad habits, only a very small percentage of these people take the path of combating bad habits.
To force yourself to purposefully get rid of bad habits, you need to understand that bad habits, in addition to harming health, also create a certain impression among others about their owner.
What can bad habits tell about a person:
- The person does not have the willpower to part with the habit;
- A person is not capable of self-organizing;
- A person is helpless even in front of his own organism, what can we say about his resistance to the surrounding life;
- A person cannot educate himself, which means that he should not take up the education of others;
- What useful things can you borrow for yourself in the process of communicating with such a person besides his bad habits?
Bad habits take root easily because they are attached to comfortable feelings. When a person tries to get rid of a habit, these comfortable sensations are disturbed and the body requires, if not a return to the habit, then at least its replacement with no less comfortable sensations. For this reason, before you start fighting your habits, you should figure out how to replace them and thus deceive the body.
The idea of quitting the habit on Monday, or the new month, or the new year is unfortunate. It is necessary to begin to part with the habit at the very moment when this thought occurred to you. Once this thought has visited you, it means that you have already experienced an uncomfortable feeling from this habit and it must be consolidated (let the body remember an unpleasant sensation).
It is pointless to set yourself a task for a certain period of time, after the time you have chosen, the habit may not disappear (you just endured this time, and did not rebuild the body), a breakdown will occur, a return to the same habit, and everything goes down the drain. Breaking a habit is a matter of every day (after all, this is how you got used to it). Every day, restraining yourself from the habit with willpower, try to replace it with something more pleasant, switch your attention to such things that would swallow you up and make it impossible to remember the habit.
Gradually, very gradually, you will get used to not remembering the pleasant sensations associated with a bad habit, and it will go to the second, third ... plan in the affairs of your life, and over time it will simply evaporate from the list of your entertainment.
