Can a nail be repaired?

Modern cosmetology does not stand still and, along with cosmetic medicine, offers new opportunities for improving the appearance of the human body. Nails are also not forgotten - an important detail of the well-groomed and attractive appearance of the limbs.

There are often cases when a disease or injury leads to the fact that the nail plate breaks and, in addition to the lack of aesthetics, gives a lot of trouble to a person, clinging to the details of clothing, injuring himself once again in shoes, creating conditions for the penetration of infection.

There are several ways to repair the nail plate. These are painless procedures based on the restoration of the nail with special materials that replace the defect, cover the defect and make it possible to make a full-fledged manicure or pedicure.

Materials for nail repair are acrylic powder, special glue, mesh silk patches.

In a specialized beauty salon, breaking off a nail (the absence of a part of the nail plate) of any complexity is restored with the same material that is used for ordinary nail extension. The master masterfully applies pink acrylic paste (flesh-colored) and "covers up" all defective areas, capturing the undamaged part of the nail plate. Further, the desired shape is given to the nail plate by sawing off. The nail plate goes through all the stages of manicure or pedicure and - the nail is ready for decorative varnish application.

Minor nail damage (cracks, small breaks and irregularities) can be restored by yourself.

The first way.

For this you will need:

  • Adhesive for tips (false nails) and nail repair,
  • For a patch: a piece of tips or a piece of glue-backed silk or a piece of tea bag,
  • Base varnish.

Clean the surface of the nail in the area of the break (crack) with a nail file. Cut the patch to a size slightly larger than the break (crack). Smear the area of the break with glue, attach a patch. After drying, sand the transitions between the patch and the nail with a nail file. Apply base polish to the nail. Then you can apply decorative varnish and wait for the nail to grow back.

The second way (more professional).

For this you will need:

  • Nail repair glue,
  • Adhesive-backed silk for the patch,
  • Acrylic powder (sold in a variety of shades at a specialist store),
  • Nail primer,
  • Base varnish.

Degrease the nail. Clean the crack (crack) with a nail file. Apply a primer to it, then a layer of glue. Glue the patch on the glue. Dry. Polish the edges of the patch with a nail file. Apply a layer of base varnish and sprinkle it with acrylic powder (acrylic powder is applied with a puff or simply sprinkled). Allow to dry (faster under UV lamp or LEG lamp). Cover with a layer of base varnish. On such a surface of the nail, you can apply both gel polish and ordinary decorative varnish.

Restoration of a broken nail will allow you to wait for its regrowth without interference and while maintaining a well-groomed appearance of the nails.
