Burrs on the fingers - how to treat?
Burrs on the skin around the nail are not uncommon in everyday life. They are usually not dangerous, but they are troublesome due to trauma to the skin and the risk of infection in an open wound.
Burrs reasons:
- bad habit of biting nails,
- working with parts that injure the skin around the fingers, calluses on the fingers, cracking to wounds and skin peeling,
- dry skin of the hands, bursting in places of tension (cuticle, periungual area),
- poorly done manicure, which injured the skin around the nail,
- infectious lesions of the fingers of the area of the nail plate.
In any of the cases of the appearance of burrs on the fingers, a certain set of methods is required to eliminate them:
- disinfection of cracked skin,
- cutting off skin patches that have come off the main body of the skin,
- baths for steaming the skin (preceding drug therapy) - use antiseptics (potassium permanganate solution, furacilin solution, calendula solution, chlorophyllipt solution, iodinol solution),
- as a preventive physiotherapy, ultraviolet baths for hands and feet are carried out (ultraviolet is a good disinfectant that does not dry out the skin and prevents the multiplication of infectious agents),
- application of wound healing ointments, creams and emollients with a reparative effect (for example, Aekol, sea buckthorn oil, St. John's wort oil).
Caring for your fingers when burrs appear requires method and patience. At the time of treatment and disposal of burrs, it is necessary to protect the injured areas from contamination.
The main trouble that can be obtained from the presence of barbs is the ingress of bacteria, fungi, parasites into the cracked skin, which will inevitably lead to a purulent-inflammatory process (panaritium, paronychia) and may result in surgical intervention.
