The gallbladder hurts - how to determine?
The gallbladder is a depot organ that concentrates the flow of bile produced by the liver. Stagnation in the gallbladder, associated, for example, with impaired bile formation (hyperfunction), blockage of the ducts of the bladder itself due to their narrowing or stuck gallstones in the ducts, cause dysfunction of the gallbladder, which makes itself felt by attacks of pain - colic of the gallbladder.
A tendency to stone formation in the gallbladder, congenital anatomical abnormalities of the gallbladder, impaired contractile function, trauma to the gallbladder can lead to colic.
Without being a professional in medical intricacies and anatomical details, it is difficult to understand what exactly causes the pain symptom. But there are a number of signs by which you can determine that the gallbladder hurts:
- Severe pain symptom in the right hypochondrium;
- Acute pain can last up to 15 minutes;
- The pain can radiate to the upper right part of the abdomen;
- The pain may be accompanied by nausea and urge to vomit;
- Multiple vomiting is possible;
- Yellowness of the skin (for example, elbows turn yellow) and eyeballs may develop;
- Digestive disorders are possible: diarrhea, flatulence;
- Chronic aching pains with a feeling of heaviness in the right hypochondrium are possible.
For pain in the gallbladder, do not apply a hot heating pad. But antispasmodic drugs, for example, No-Spa, Spazmalgon (Metamizole, Pitofenone), help to relieve an attack of colic of the gallbladder.
