Radio knife - application possibilities.
A radio knife is a minimally invasive medical technology of intervention in tissue structures in order to remove neoplasms, non-extensive pathological foci of tissues. Most often, a radio knife is used to remove superficial skin or mucous growths (tumors, moles, papillomas, foci of fibrous tissue, growths, polyps, proliferating tissue, and the like).
The work of a radio knife is due to the natural processes of destruction of tissue cells when the temperature rises, provoked by a radio wave. The principle of operation of a radio knife is a non-instrumental targeted destruction of tissue cells using high-frequency waves, which cause focal heating of tissue cells by accelerating molecular movement, forcing it to break down pointwise (tissue cells literally burst from the inside). Despite the fact that high temperatures are involved in the work of the radio knife, a burn as such does not work.
Radio wave surgery is a method that does not cause bleeding and, simultaneously with the destruction of a tissue site, begins the process of its regeneration in the area of intervention.
Contraindications for the use of a radio knife:
- the presence of inflammatory processes in the areas of application of the radio knife,
- malignancy of neoplasms to be removed,
- the presence of metal implants and implanted electrical devices in the body,
- lactation and breastfeeding period.
The radio knife is widely used in dermatology, dentistry, otolaryngology and gynecology for the excision of pathological foci and non-malignant formations.
