Natural ingredients in cosmetics.
Cosmetic products of industrial production are increasingly including natural ingredients in their composition. Natural cosmetics for body and face care are very popular, as they inspire hope for a safe and, if not curative, then at least a preventive result from their use. Are natural ingredients in cosmetics as effective as stated in the instructions for their use?
Usually natural ingredients are included in cosmetic products for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes for face and body skin care, and these products have special properties that imply a direct effect on the condition of the skin of the face and body. Therapeutic and preventive cosmetics are recommended when there are problems with the health of the skin, and if artificial cosmetic components can provoke a deterioration in the condition of the skin. Most often found in natural cosmetics Argan oil, Avocado or Olive oil, Aloe juice, oatmeal, Field horsetail or Althea plant extracts. Each of these natural ingredients has a specific purpose according to their natural properties, and when choosing a natural skin care product, it is worth relating its composition to your specific skin problems so that the application of the cosmetic product is not in vain.
Oatmeal is used in cosmetology to soften dry and injured skin due to the fact that it can retain moisture for a long time. Cosmetic product with oatmeal also creates an anti-inflammatory effect, which helps with overly irritated skin. The use of masks with oatmeal, made at home, will be effective only if the oatmeal is ground to a state of flour, that is, it has a fine structure, otherwise oatmeal in a homemade cosmetic product will play the role of a degreaser or scrub, and not a moisturizer, as this is provided in a commercially manufactured cosmetic.
Argan, Avocado and Olive oils are used to nourish dry skin and hair, but the usual home use of such oils does not have the effect that is created in a factory-made cosmetic product, due to poor absorption of these oils into the skin. Home use of these types of oils is not effective in comparison with a similar formulation of an industrial cosmetic product, where these oils are brought by a chemical formula to a state acceptable for skin cells. The only effect of using homemade oils will be to add shine to the hair if the homemade hair mask contains these oils. Factory analogs of cosmetics with the participation of Argan, Avocado and Olive oils will have a rejuvenating effect on the skin of the face and body.
Field horsetail extract in the composition of nail polishes or nail care products, or in the composition of cosmetic products for the care of the skin of the feet, is intended to create a deodorizing effect for the care of hands and feet. But the mineral compounds that the horsetail plant is rich in will enter the body only when using its infusions inside, and not externally, which should be taken into account when making home-made formulas with the participation of this plant.
Althea extract in the composition of a cosmetic product is another opportunity for skin hydration, but only when this extract is chemically combined with the components of a cosmetic product that can deliver it to the deeper layers of the skin. In home cosmetology, the use of infusions or extracts from Althea for external skin care will not create the desired effect.
And, finally, Aloe juice, added as an extract to an industrial cosmetic, will take care of the skin condition, removing inflammation of skin cells and accelerating cell renewal, which will delay the skin aging process. A similar use of Aloe juice in home-made cosmetics has a protective effect due to the formation of a thin film on the surface of the skin. This film will close the pores of the skin, give the skin smoothness, but will not act more deeply on the skin cells. Such a cosmetic product with the participation of homemade Aloe juice is useful to use after scrubbing the skin and to create the effect of temporary skin smoothness, but not for a therapeutic effect.
Factory-made cosmetics with natural ingredients and natural home-made cosmetics with the same natural ingredients differ in therapeutic and preventive effects, and this must be taken into account when giving preference to an industrial or home-made formula for creating a cosmetic product for face and body skin care.
