Salt in home cosmetology.
Salt plays an important role in cosmetic procedures, as it is a full-fledged ingredient in many cosmetic skin care products. What properties of salt are used for cosmetic purposes?
- Salt absorbs water and retains it according to the principle of substances - absorbents - this property of salt is used to dry the surface of the skin and narrow the open pores of the skin.
- Salt has a different degree of grinding, which allows you to use different dispersion of salt for superficial and deep skin scrubbing. Salt scrubs simultaneously exfoliate dead skin cells and have a drying effect. In cosmetics, the dispersion of salt plays the role of a means that stimulates regenerative processes in the thickness of the skin.
- Salt in an aqueous solution turns into an antiseptic that inhibits the vital activity of many harmful microorganisms that live on the surface of the skin. Due to the antiseptic and drying effect, saline solutions are useful for the rapid healing and regeneration of cells in the area of the skin, disturbed by microtraumas.
- Evaporating salt creates an indoor atmosphere similar to that of sea air, and is suitable for home halotherapy, which allows all beauty treatments to be carried out in conditions close to a spa.
With its beneficial properties, such a natural substance as salt has earned a place in the recipes of professional cosmetology. But salt has multiple uses even in home cosmetology, and its use does not require special professional skills. Making a salt mask, salt scrub or salt bath at home is no more difficult than using a recipe for home cooking.
Homemade salt mask for skin.
To prepare a salt mask at home, you will need cosmetic Dead Sea salt or any Sea salt in the amount of one teaspoon, a tablespoon of 35% milk cream (buy ready-made milk cream or whip it yourself until milk creamy). Mix the ingredients until a homogeneous mass is obtained and apply the mask on the face, evenly distributing the creamy-salt mass over the skin of the face. Keep the mask for 20 - 30 minutes and wash off the mask with a sponge with cooled boiled water. The same salt mask for the whole body can be prepared from a tablespoon of the selected salt and 3.5 ounces of whipped cream.
Homemade salt bath.
You will need aromatic bath salt, Dead Sea salt or any Sea salt to prepare a salt bath. Before adding water to the bottom of the bath, pour 3.5 ounces of the selected salt, fill the bath with warm water (not hot), lie in the salt bath for 30 minutes and, without wiping yourself with a towel, dry the skin of the body in the air.
Homemade salt scrub for the body.
You will need a tablespoon of ready-made Dead Sea salt or any food-grade Sea salt to prepare a salt scrub at home, a tablespoon of any vegetable oil and three drops of essential oil with your favorite smell. Thoroughly mix the mixture of the selected ingredients until a homogeneous consistency and apply an even layer on the areas of the body that need scrubbing (with the exception of the skin of the face and neck). Wait 5-10 minutes until the scrub oils are partially absorbed into the surface of the skin, and massage the skin thoroughly. Next, wash off the scrub from the surface of the skin by rinsing.
All recipes using salt in home cosmetology require caution when using them in cases where there are skin diseases in the acute stage or chronically current skin diseases with obvious signs of skin lesions. Areas affected by a skin disease are not treated with salt scrubs or salt masks.
