Headache at muscular tension.
There are enough reasons for the development of headache, and many of them can be dangerous, but there are causes of headache that are not associated with painful conditions in the body, but have a simple origin - overstrain of the masticatory muscles and / or muscles of the cervical spine.
With prolonged contraction or stretching of the deep muscles of the neck and masticatory muscles, pain sensations arising in these muscle groups can also irritate the nerve receptors in the tendon joints of these muscles with the bones of the skull, which gives rise to certain types of pain: pulling pains in the back of the head are observed , starting in areas of the neck and extending into the depths of the occipital region of the head, in the region of the temples and forehead, a ribbon-like headache develops (encircling the head).
Headaches of this kind can be permanent (not paroxysmal), do not pass at any position of the body, when pressure is applied to the muscles of the cervical region or the chewing muscles, they intensify.
The treatment of headaches associated with muscle spasm or muscle strain is based on the use of methods aimed at muscle relaxation: forced relaxation of all muscles of the body in the supine position (this helps autogenous training, meditation, warm bath), massage of the cervical region and shoulder girdle, spa treatments, a warm shower in the cervical region (heat always relaxes the muscle muscles, and the cold spasms, so you should not resort to a contrast shower), a heating pad in the neck and shoulder girdle.
When sitting tensely at a desk or near a computer, the muscles of the cervical spine do not relax, so it is better to induce their relaxation while lying or reclining. Hot teas relax muscle tissue, when consumed, heat spreads throughout the body, gradually relaxing the necessary muscle groups.
