How to slow down the aging process of the skin.
While science is struggling with the problem of how to get a recipe for eternal youth, our task is to delay the aging process. Even considering the fact that aging is still an inevitable thing, consider the possibilities that exist today and can affect the aging process.
It may be a shame, but it is the condition of the skin that gives out our age. Starting from about 25 years old, the skin gradually begins to lose its fresh appearance, becomes dull and less elastic due to the fact that the process of renewal of cells of the stratum corneum slows down, and the rate of formation of collagen and elastin fibers decreases. Simply put, the skin begins to "wear out" against the background of the aging mechanism inherent in it and the accumulated negative factors as a result of damage and disease. We cannot yet influence the genetic mechanisms of aging, but we are quite capable of slowing down the rate of wear.
Consider the factors that accelerate the aging process:
Ultraviolet radiation - affects the rate of skin aging, because it causes burns , skin thickening due to the production of melanin, in short, injures it. And everyone's so beloved tan is not a property of the skin "to add beauty to itself", but a protective reaction to ultraviolet light, which is harmful to skin cells. By producing melanin, the body thus tries to reduce the penetration of rays outside the epidermis. Sunburn of the skin is nothing more than a reaction of the immune system to ultraviolet rays, when the process of release of inflammatory mediators and cytokines from the cells of the epidermis and dermis is triggered. Skin aging from increased exposure to UV radiation (photoaging) differs from normal physiological aging of the skin in that with photoaging, the skin coarsens, and with true aging, it becomes thinner. During photoaging, the ability to synthesize collagen fibers and elastin remains. It is believed that for this reason, photoaging is to some extent a reversible process.
Dehydration of the skin - causes premature aging of the skin due to its aging from lack of moisture. At the age of 30, the process of a decrease in the activity of the sebaceous glands begins, the rate of lipid metabolism decreases, which affects the water-holding capacity of the skin. Closer to the age of 40, the intercellular matrix of the dermis degrades, which reduces moisture in the dermis layer. As a result of vascular changes (deterioration of the penetrating ability of the vascular wall), microcirculation in the skin decreases and, therefore, the skin receives less water. Lack of water does not cause wrinkles yet, but gives the skin a dry and flabby appearance. Loose and dry skin is the next step in the formation of wrinkles.
Endocrine changes - associated with a decrease in the amount of hormones produced - are natural aging factors that need to be inhibited. Estrogen is responsible for the skin's ability to retain moisture.
Stress and sleep disorders - hit the metabolic processes in the body, causing various diseases of organs and their systems, which always affects the condition of the skin. Frequent stress sometimes provokes irreversible processes, therefore, the skin condition cannot be restored to normal.
Frost and wind, dry air - these are factors of external negative influence that dry out the skin, taking away some of the moisture, which causes the accelerated development of wrinkles.
Violation of the natural processes of skin cell regeneration leads to a decrease in skin tone and the appearance of wrinkles. Collagen fibers are more responsible for skin elasticity and aging than elastin fibers. At a young age, their number is greater, and they are able to retain a sufficient amount of moisture. Over time, the ability of collagen fibers to swell decreases, they begin to harden, which disrupts the restoration of the elastic properties of the skin. I must say that the very first wrinkles that appear in a person are mimic wrinkles. As long as the skin is young and elastic, any gathering in folds will return it to its original state. But over time, mimic wrinkles deepen and persistent folds form.
The toxic effect of harmful substances (nicotine, alcohol and other substances) that enter the body due to, say, bad habits, complicates the already growing aging processes.
Poor nutrition - leads to a lack of useful microelements and vitamins in the body, which means a lack of building material for regenerative processes.
All of the factors listed above indicate that in order to slow down the aging process, one must take into account their effect and, as far as possible, try to avoid it.
This means that it is necessary:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to external negative elements: protect the skin from frost, winds, excessive sun rays.
- Getting rid of bad habits, learning to work on yourself is the least that you can do for yourself.
- Engage in the prevention of endocrine disorders and other diseases in a timely manner, not letting things go by themselves.
- Improve nutrition and sleep.
- To temper the nervous system in terms of resistance to stress.
- Control the replenishment of fluid in the body: drink enough water and other healthy drinks per day (one and a half to two liters in total).
- Treat your skin with moisturizing and nourishing cosmetics.
- Arrange at home or in the salon special moisturizing procedures for the skin. In general, you should prefer a spa to a beach holiday.
- Follow the facial expressions (a frowned and twisted face will only add wrinkles to you).
