How to care for neck skin?
There is an opinion that to find out the age of a person, it is enough to look at the condition of the skin on the neck. Why? The fact is that in the neck area, the skin of a person is thin, delicate, and all age-related changes affect it in the first place. The skin on the neck is practically devoid of a layer of subcutaneous fatty tissue, and the layer of subcutaneous tissue plays an important role in the process of trophism and hydration of the epidermis. Depleted in nutrition and hydration, the skin begins to fade, loses turgor and sags. The muscles of the neck, as a rule, are rarely trained, and even then only by athletes, so there is no reason to expect that the skin will stretch depending on the muscle tension. Unfavorable environmental factors (sunlight, wind, frost) have a detrimental effect not only on the skin of the face, but also on the exposed areas of the skin of the neck. The results will be the same: chapped neck skin, sunburn, aging and rougher skin, dehydration leading to aging.
The skin on the neck , as well as on the face, is most often within sight, which means that its unkempt appearance will be striking. But, in order not to constantly wear high collars or not to wrap your neck with a scarf, you should worry about the condition of the skin on your neck, and this should be done regularly!
Neck skin care takes place in several stages:
- Washing your neck using mild scrubs or loofahs,
- Moisturizing the skin of the neck,
- Neck skin nutrition,
- Protection of the neck skin from the sun, frost and wind.
It is possible to use scrubs when washing the skin on the neck, but the abrasives present in the scrub must be silicone balls, and not natural or artificial crumb with sharp edges (they will injure). Salt, sugar are also not suitable, as they are harsh for thin skin. When using a scrub, do not rub it with force into the surface of the skin, just massage it lightly and rinse it off. After washing, the skin of the neck is blotted with a towel, and not rubbed with force until redness (unnecessary stretching).
Moisturize the skin the moment it is steamed after taking a bath or shower, this creates a comfortable environment for the cream to quickly absorb into the pores of the skin. It is better to moisturize the skin of the neck before going to bed, because if you apply moisturizer to the skin, and after a short period of time go outside, where the temperature is too low, too high or just windy, the water molecules contained in the cream and did not have time to penetrate deep enough will begin crystallize (in frost) or evaporate (in heat and wind), drying the skin even more. The most important way to moisturize your skin is to consume the right amount of fluid per day.
It is advisable to apply nourishing creams after steaming and at night. In addition to daily neck skin care with the help of creams, it is necessary to do nourishing and moisturizing masks regularly every one, two, three weeks. For these purposes, fatty creams and creams with a high percentage of moisture are also suitable. After applying the cream, the skin of the neck is covered with a waterproof material (film), wrapped around the neck and is not removed for an hour or an hour and a half. You can make masks not from cream, but from natural products (cream, vegetable oil), but do not add ingredients to such masks that provoke moisture evaporation or adsorb water on yourself. Cucumber or scarlet juice, no matter how watery they may seem, dry out the skin, creating a film - the surface tension of the skin; egg white creates a different kind of film, but with the same effect, which means that the pores of the skin will close, and none of the nutrients will go to their intended purpose. Salty solutions tan the skin, make it rough. The thin skin of the neck does not like heavy oily creams, so use them only for additional nutrition and not often (while applying masks).
When leaving the house, protect your neck from the sun's rays with UV creams and light scarves. Don't wrap your neck up to keep it from sweating, but don't expose it to all winds either. Scarves and collars must be suitable for the weather. There is a summer scarves made of natural fabrics (cotton, viscose, poplin, fashion, natural silk and chiffon), which not only will protect your neck from ultraviolet radiation, but in the heat will help absorb sweat and prevent occurrence of prickly heat and skin irritation in skin diseases.
Also, keep in mind that alcohol-based perfumes and talcum powder deodorants or antiperspirants applied to your neck will ruin (dry out) it. Consider this fact! Choose an oil-based perfume, and to reduce sweating of the skin on the neck, you can use a solution of urotropin (there are contraindications). Cosmetic talcum powder and powder also dry out the skin - do not get carried away with these products regularly!
