Cat litter box - how to organize it correctly?

A cat litter is one of the most important tasks of a pet's life at home. The right litter, a comfortable place, and toilet training play a big role in home comfort. It is easier if the pet can be walked, but here it is also important to organize the walk correctly, taking into account the characteristics of the area.

Fillers for trays today differ in variety:

these are granular clumping and non-clumping clay fillers,
sawdust, shavings, plant husks,
sand,
paper fillers,
flavored and non-flavored fillers.

The choice remains, of course, with the pet, which may be picky.

Reasons why the pet does not use the litter box or makes mistakes:

the pet is sick or aging,
the owner changed the usual filler for another, the owner updated the tray, the owner cleans and washes the tray with a sanitary product with a subtle smell, but the animal is sensitive to smell,
the owner made a rearrangement at home and the animal does not recognize the path to the tray,
stress in the animal from the presence of new family members, guests, other animals.

The choice of litter for the tray should be thoughtful. Clumping granular fillers are convenient in that they can't be completely changed, but only to remove the lumps formed by urine and add new portions of the filler. Do a full replacement, for example, once a week.

The smell of shavings, plant components can scare off the animal, as well as flavors.

What is convenient for the owner may not be acceptable to the animal.

Both the shape and size of the tray matter. There are closed and open trays, but not every animal will use a closed tray (this is not for everyone). The height of the side of the litter box matters. For some animals, the side can be higher than necessary and create trouble. The width of the tray should allow the animal to dig in the tray if it is used to doing so. Litter box messy can be caused by insufficient litter space, rather than a pet’s lack of tidiness.
