How to avoid the appearance of gastric and intestinal ulcers?
The prerequisites for the appearance of ulcers and gastritis are the same. It can even be said that peptic ulcer of the stomach or intestines is the result of poor treatment of gastritis. It is known that in those parts of the gastrointestinal tract where gastric juice is produced and where it is located during the digestion of food, ulcers most often develop as a sign of a violation of the integrity of the inner lining of the stomach or intestines. Despite the fact that the physiology and anatomy of a person is designed in such a way as to protect the organs of the gastrointestinal tract during digestion, there are a number of factors that are not provided for by the nature of the body initially. It is these factors that upset the balance between the corrosive action of gastric juice and the natural stability of the internal tissues lining the organs of the gastrointestinal tract.
Enzymes for digesting food have a different composition and break down food in different ways at different stages of its passage through the gastrointestinal tract. Gastric juice (hydrochloric acid) is one of the most active enzymes that can harm the tissues of the digestive organs, but nature intended to use it in such a way that the amount of gastric juice does not exceed certain indicators, that is, it is acceptable. In some people, this indicator is overestimated, in others it is underestimated, but in general, the tissues lining the stomach and intestines can withstand the irritating and destructive action of gastric juice.
But a person in the process of life adds additional factors to this moderate irritating effect of enzymes on the digestive organs, which intensify the processes of destruction from the inside of the protective membranes in the digestive organs. For example:
- excessive consumption of acidic fruits, berries and juices from them adds to the concentration of gastric acid;
- many drugs cause additional damage to the stomach and intestines due to the fact that they may contain active irritating substances. For example, many vitamins are natural or synthetic acids, but many people do not take this into account and take vitamins on an empty stomach;
- Coffee and drinks with its participation are also drinks that contain acid, they irritate the walls of the stomach and intestines;
- stress, as well as overeating, add the amount of gastric juice to the lumens of the digestive organs;
- diets and rare meals force gastric juice to be released at the wrong time, and when there is no food in the stomach and intestines or it is not enough for the required concentration of digestive enzymes;
- alcohol-containing drinks have an additional traumatic chemical effect on the digestive organs from the inside, and taking them on an empty stomach causes simply irreparable harm to the stomach and intestines.
Excessive acidity in the stomach creates favorable conditions for the reproduction of certain types of bacteria that love an acidic environment (for example, Helicobacter pylori). It is known that the presence of this bacterium is not related to the age categories of a person, but is directly related to the increased acidic environment of the stomach, which supports its development. This bacterium destroys surrounding tissues in the course of its vital activity, which leads to the formation of ulcers.
Prevention of peptic ulcer of the stomach or intestines is a simple set of rules, the observance of which has a positive effect and avoids the appearance of stomach and intestinal ulcers.
- Quality nutrition is not all that can be opposed to peptic ulcer disease, since meals must be regular, at the same time, in order to accustom the body to secrete digestive enzymes in an orderly manner.
- Medicines (including vitamins) are drunk after meals or during meals, unless otherwise indicated in the instructions. It is necessary to know that drugs taken on an empty stomach are made in a special inert shell that can withstand an acidic environment and breaks down exactly under the conditions that are prescribed for it.
- Alcoholic drinks and sour drinks, sour fruits, berries and vegetables are consumed during meals or after meals.
- Dosing emotional and physical overload creates favorable conditions for the health of the gastrointestinal tract and prevents spasms of the smooth muscles of the stomach and intestines, which can also damage these organs and complicate the digestive process.
- There are drugs that partially reduce excessively high acidity and drugs that neutralize the effect of bacteria, if one has been found in the stomach.
Prevention of gastritis is also suitable for the prevention of peptic ulcer, since the methods of such prevention are identical.
