Neurological diseases >>>> Reading disorder is dyslexia
Reading disorder is dyslexia.
The inability to read the text correctly and, accordingly, to comprehend what it read is called dyslexia.
This kind of disorder is associated with biological abnormalities (poorly understood) of brain function and the social environment in which the person with the pathology lives. Dyslexia is detected in childhood, when the process of learning to read occurs. Dyslexia has nothing to do with human intelligence, but, nevertheless, it manifests itself in a violation of analytical connections when reading and reproducing what has been read.
When diagnosing a disease, they exclude mental illnesses, mental retardation and underdevelopment of the child, take into account the quality of teaching reading. They take into account the state of vision and hearing, the presence of neurological disorders.
Signs of reading impairment:
- omissions of letters, permutations and confusion in letters and syllables,
- inability to retell what you read,
- confusion in similar letters,
- the inability to put syllables into words and words into phrases,
- not recognizing individual letters or their combinations,
- non-recognition of words.
With dyslexia, the child can memorize and reproduce the heard texts well, but cannot do the same with the text he read himself. In fact, a child cannot master the skills of reading a text of any degree of complexity (even a primitive one). This complicates further training, since it does not give him the opportunity to independently obtain knowledge from books - information must constantly be read for him by ear.
Dyslexia treatment is a painstaking process that requires individual sessions in large quantities with a speech therapist, consultation with a neurologist, psychologist and psychiatrist. The effectiveness of treatment for reading disorders depends on the particular case, the individual approach, and it is not always possible to completely eliminate this disorder.
