Flexible dentures.
Flexible dentures are removable dentures without monomer (without the participation of monomer in their manufacture), made by high pressure casting. Other names for flexible dentures: thermoplastic dentures, nylon dentures, acetal dentures (differ in the degree of flexibility and design methods).
One of the advantages of flexible dentures is the minimum time for adaptation in the oral cavity, especially in patients who have never worn removable dentures. Unlike acrylic dentures (with the participation of a monomer), which have a rigid structure, flexible dentures do not rub the mucous membrane and practically do not require correction. Often, flexible dentures are used as preliminary prosthetics in order to quickly get the patient to get used to removable plastic structures.
Another advantage of flexible dentures is their chemical formula - the absence of a monomer in the plastic - a liquid with a chemical composition that often causes allergies.
Flexible dentures can be made as partially removable, fully removable constructions, micro dentures (replace one - two - three missing teeth). Acetal dentures mimic drag structures, where metal arches and clasp systems are replaced with plastic structures matching the color of the teeth present.
Unlike many removable structures with retaining and stabilizing metal elements (clasps - hooks), flexible dentures are made monolithic, which minimizes the friction of the dentures and abutment teeth and does not require processing of abutment teeth under crowns in order to place metal clasps on them.
