The dysentery bacteriophage.
Latin name: Bacteriophagum dysentericum. Dysentery bacteriophage is an immunobiological preparation intended for the treatment and prevention of bacterial dysentery caused by the bacteria of the genus Shigella flexneri (Shigella Flexner) types I, II, III, IV and VI. It is available in the form of a solution or in the form of tablets. It contains phagolysates of dysentery bacteria (in the form of a solution or lyophilized in the form of tablets) plus a preservative.
Depending on the form in which the bacteriophage is released, its dosage is calculated. So bacteriophage dysentery in the form of a solution can be used orally or rectally (in the form of an enema with mild colitis syndrome). Rectal intake, replacing one oral dose per dose: 10 ml; 20ml; 30ml; 40ml; 50-60ml according to age: up to 6 months; up to 1 year; up to 3 years old; up to 8 years old; over 8 years old.
Orally (solution and tablets) are taken three times a day one hour before the next meal in doses corresponding to the scheme:
- Up to six months of age - 5 ml (one dose);
- In the period from six months to a year - 10-15 ml (one dose);
- In the period from one to three years - 15-20 ml each or respectively, one tablet (one dose);
- In the period from three years to eight - 20-30 ml or, respectively, one or two tablets (one dose);
- In the period from eight years and older - 30-40 ml each or, respectively, two or three tablets (one dose).
One tablet of dysentery bacteriophage corresponds to 20 ml of bacteriophage solution.
Prevention of bacterial dysentery is carried out depending on the epidemiological indications (for example, when one of the team members or one of the family members is ill), taking the drug 10-40 ml or up to 2 tablets, according to age, once a day for a time corresponding specific epidemiological situation.
The duration of taking the bacteriophage dysentery drug for the treatment of bacterial dysentery is five to seven days and does not exclude the intake of other antibacterial drugs.
Dysenteric bacteriophage has no side effects and contraindications for use. But in the event of an individual intolerance to any of the components of the drug (for example, allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting), it is canceled.
Storage and use of the dysentery bacteriophage preparation are universal for all types of bacteriophage preparations.
