Depression or bad mood?
A depressed person is not the most pleasant sight for others, and depression is not the most comfortable state for oneself. Depressive state is not always a full illness, but it often turns out to be an obstacle to a fulfilling life. What to do if you are suddenly depressed?
First you need to figure out whether depression has visited you or just a bad mood. To define a person's condition as depressive, you need to know the signs of depression:
The depressed state of a person is a characteristic sign of depression. But a depressed state can also develop at the time of experiencing failure, misfortune, tragedy, so the difference can be seen in the time a person is in a depressed state. The longer the period a person is in a state of depression (measured in months), the closer his state is to a depressive one.
Loss of the ability to enjoy any events that previously brought positive emotions and a sense of satisfaction. If isolated events in a certain period of time do not please, this is a bad mood, if nothing pleases you, then you have depression.
A pessimistic outlook on life, seeing all events in black and evaluating them only as negative is depression. But taking a critical look at some events has nothing to do with depression.
Loss of interest in life in general, in all its manifestations, is depression. Loss of interest in selective life events can be seen as fatigue, overwork.
Low self-esteem and lack of desire to overcome their own shortcomings (objective or subjective) - depression. The reluctance to work on oneself, which has arisen for a short period and is replaced by the desire to change something in oneself, has nothing to do with depression.
Loss of physical activity, contributing to overcoming the feeling of fatigue in a normal state, but in a depressive state leading to complete inactivity for many months.
Few people know how to get out of a depressive state on their own, while a bad mood with a successfully developing life will soon be replaced by a good high spirits, a desire to continue to get pleasure from life.
If only successful events in life are needed to change moods, then getting out of depression (especially protracted) faces certain difficulties. A person in a depressed state does not find the strength to get out of it on his own, but he could do this with a slight correction of the state by a psychologist or psychotherapist, the help of relatives and, in difficult cases, relying on medication. For this reason, having examined your depressive state from all sides and noticing signs of depression in yourself, strive to find a way out of it as soon as possible, turning to relatives or specialists for help.
