Neurasthenia - causes of development and signs.
Neurasthenia (or asthenic neurosis) is a fairly common disorder of a person's mental state. Men and women are equally susceptible to this kind of disorder. Neurasthenia can develop at a young age, and with inadequate treatment, the condition of the person suffering from this kind of disorder is aggravated.
The impetus for asthenic neurosis can be unsuccessful life circumstances, when mental trauma (of various kinds) is superimposed on the difficult conditions of work and life in general. The causes of neurasthenia can lie in a combination of chronic fatigue, regular lack of sleep, poor nutrition, chronic painful conditions that weaken the body. If we add an event (or events) that traumatizes the psyche to the body, which is already on the verge of depletion of internal reserves, a breakdown occurs and a neurasthenic state develops.
Signs of neurasthenia:
At the initial stage, a person feels increased irritability. He begins to be bothered by things or events to which he previously could not pay close attention: crowds, noises, vanity in the space surrounding a person. Irritation builds up, a person loses self-control, can raise his voice, shout at others, speak harshly, becomes intolerant and impatient. Rapid fatigue and a drop in attention affect his performance. Such a person starts work with difficulty, gets tired quickly, cannot cope with the entire volume of the load, and abandons the work he has begun. This is reflected in poor perseverance and a drop in productivity. Distributed attention prevents you from concentrating on one thing. In addition, a person has increased excitability, difficulty falling asleep, poor sleep, heavy lifting.
The second phase of neurasthenia is characterized by a change of increased irritability with fatigue and a rapid depletion of the body's internal reserves. For insignificant reasons, violent reactions are replaced by a breakdown, tearfulness. A person becomes vulnerable to loud noise, bright light, and strong odors. The degree of absent-mindedness increases, it becomes difficult for a person to keep in mind even simple events. Sleepiness appears during the day, and agitation and insomnia at night. Sleep becomes superficial. These symptoms are joined by a depressed mood bordering on depression.
The third phase of neurasthenia is characterized by a decrease in arousal and the arrival of apathy, lethargy, depression, and a drowsy state to replace it. A person has an asthenic syndrome, a bad, depressed mood, a weakening of interest in various phenomena of life. Such painful conditions can give impetus to the development of other, more complex psychopathologies.
Treatment of neurasthenia depends on the neglect of the disease. At the initial stages of the development of the disease, you can cope with it yourself: organize the correct daily routine, dose the load, develop stress resistance in yourself , suppress irritability with sedatives (for example, herbal sedatives). You may need a change of job, a change in the types of recreation, a change in the environment in general. In cases of advanced neurasthenia, it is recommended to visit a doctor and take medications: antidepressants and / or tranquilizers to help the torn nervous system recover.
