What is a food diary?
Self – control is one of the hardest and most rewarding activities in life. Self-control allows you to streamline life, get rid of unnecessary affairs and unnecessary fuss around them, find reserves of time for rest and learn how to use your own time in a practical way. Self-control in nutrition will help keep yourself from overeating (gluttony), distracted from food for more interesting moments in life, and put in order the body and health. For self-control in food intake, a food diary is needed, which will play the role of a statistical collection of information about food intake (it will take into account its quantitative and qualitative composition) and for a certain period of time will make it possible to analyze your approaches to your own nutrition (evaluate their advantages and disadvantages).
There is another positive aspect of keeping a food diary: during those periods of time when you write in a food diary, you will be busy with meticulous work and will be distracted from the process of indefatigable food intake.
Rules for keeping a food diary:
- Regularity (daily) and honesty,
- An accurate listing of food items and their quantities. A measure of weight can be the number of cups, bottles, servings eaten, pieces, etc. for breakfast, lunch, dinner and during spontaneous snacks,
- The time period is a month.
Analysis of the food diary will show which foods could be excluded from consumption, which ones could be replaced with low-calorie counterparts, which foods can be abstained from at least sometimes, and how to supplement the set of foods already in your diet (to diversify them).
Taking into account the analysis of the previous month, try to make changes in the diet for the current month and again (at the end) analyze the results of accounting, then again make adjustments for the next month. Thus, within a few months you will be able to painlessly restructure the diet, supplement it with missing useful nutrients and eliminate foods that are of little importance for a healthy diet from consumption.
