Nutrition rules >>>> Fasting is good and bad
Fasting is good and bad.
Fasting - temporary abstinence or temporary forced refusal to eat food is used for medicinal purposes and for weight loss.
Fasting for medicinal purposes is in the nature of a procedure designed to empty the stomach or intestines for a time (half a day or a day). Such fasting is carried out with the recommendation of a doctor and on the eve of other medical procedures. For this reason, therapeutic fasting is not independent, but is considered as an integral part of the therapeutic treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, etc.
Nutritionists recommend fasting for weight loss during the day, giving the body a respite from excessive food intake and forcing it to spend accumulated reserves. Such fasting is carried out within the framework of a developed balanced diet and is not delayed for a period of more than a day, so that the body, along with weight, does not begin to lose vital substances and does not start a mechanism for excreting protein (a deadly condition). Fasting for weight loss is carried out under the guidance of an experienced nutritionist and endocrinologist, since there are many contraindications for this procedure.
Fasting for cleansing the body, so popular among pseudo-medical procedures, is not required for the body, since several systems function for cleansing purposes: urinary, respiratory, digestive, which, under normal functioning of the organs that form them, are able to safely utilize and remove all harmful substances from the body.
If you still really want to fast at home, you must follow a few rules:
- Avoiding food is not giving up water, which should contain a full complement of trace elements.
- During the fasting period, physical exertion and nervous strain should be avoided.
- Fasting should not last more than a day, otherwise the body will turn on an emergency mechanism and in the future will begin to make reserves that are not at all necessary for a person who is losing weight or recovering.
- Before self-starvation, it is necessary to consult with an endocrinologist and a gastroenterologist in order to exclude diseases that are categorically not combined even with one-day fasting.
Fasting for more than a day can cause vitamin deficiency, hormonal imbalance, trauma and bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, constipation, promote stone formation, dehydration, deterioration of the brain and even lead to many irreparable physiological disruptions.
