How to overcome hunger?
A good appetite is a sign of health and the natural need of a living organism to replenish the substances necessary for the continuation of life. In a normal healthy state, a person feels the need to consume food at the moment when the body has spent the previous calories taken on its own needs. Appetite awakens after excessive physical or mental exertion, during a period of stress and high energy expenditure on nerves, after an illness during the recovery period, when temperature conditions change towards a hypothermiadecrease in the ambient temperature, when eating for two (during pregnancy), when consuming low-calorie food, when taking vitamins.
But it happens that the feeling of hunger has nothing to do with the need to replenish energetically significant and useful substances. This happens at the moment when a person comes across a food product that has never been tasted, and a feeling of curiosity, or boredom, and not busy time attracts a person to the refrigerator in search of entertainment and a pleasant pastime, or everyone around is eating, and it works "herd feeling". An irresistible feeling of hunger can develop with many mental disorders, including schizophrenia, bulimia, dementia, etc., with parasitic diseases, with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract secretion, when hydrochloric acid secretes in an empty stomach and begins to injure its walls, causing discomfort and forcing the person to fill the stomach with food.
The feeling of hunger is one of the least human-controlled feelings. To overcome it, you need to have remarkable willpower. But there are several simple effective methods, using which, if necessary, you can cope with appetite without much effort. There are several ways to overcome hunger and deceive the body:
- Fill the stomach with food often, but in small portions;
- Drink plenty of fluids (water);
- Distract attention with activities to your liking, contributing to the concentration of thoughts not on eating food, but in the process of doing an interesting thing;
- Avoid cooking places where smells will whet your appetite;
- Night hunger is treated with the same remedies as insomnia (while you sleep, hunger will not haunt you);
- It is better to replace the evening "gluttony" with a calm walk down the street and a drunk glass of kefir, warm milk or warm, slightly sweet or unsweetened tea.
What prevents you from overcoming hunger:
- Reading books or watching food programs and movies;
- Hobby related to cooking;
- Visiting, usually accompanied by a snack;
- Evening jogging, stimulating the appetite;
- Late conversations or things that prevent you from going to bed on time.
The above methods of reducing appetite have nothing to do with diets and naturally order a person's life, engaging him not only with thoughts about food, but also with other interesting and healthy things.
