Bigorexia - what is it?
The craving for the aesthetic canons of beauty makes many young people with a manic desire to engage in the construction of their bodies. To achieve ideal proportions, to develop muscles to the required size, any sacrifices are made, but most importantly, the health of the body is sacrificed. The obsessive desire to build muscle mass is called "bigorexia".
Bigorexia sufferers are obsessed with sports training. Having achieved certain results, they cannot stop and continue to build muscle, turning their bodies into hypertrophied muscle lumps.
Bigorexia makes a person feel not beautiful enough, resort to exercise exhausting the body, live under stress from the fact that you constantly feel your inferiority due to the supposedly low muscle weight, ugly proportions of your body.
How is bigorexia treated?
Bigorexia is primarily a psychological problem that requires the advice of a psychologist. Bigorexia sufferers have low self-esteem and a distorted perception of their own body (it always seems to them that they have not worked enough on themselves).
It is useful to view lifelike shots of model-looking people in order to form an idea of the difference between real beauty and photo retouch.
