Keratin hair restoration.
Hairdressing services have become more diverse and sophisticated over the years. Not all hair care treatments offered at a hairdresser are clear to the client. Let's figure out in detail what is keratin hair restoration, and whether it makes sense to do it.
Over time, hair (especially long hair) becomes unkempt, even if it is thoroughly washed and dyed. This unkempt hair is caused by a violation of its biological structure. In addition to the split ends, along the entire length of the hair (upon microscopic examination), damage to the protective keratin coating (cuticles - multilayer keratin scales covering the main keratin fibers of the hair) is observed due to mechanical fractures, twisting, chemical damage by peroxide, ammonia and other chemical reagents, which are often present in products for hair color. Hair looks disheveled, regardless of whether it is smoothly combed or curled into curls.
Keratin hair restoration (or keratin hair prosthetics) is designed to restore the damaged outer layer of the cuticle and thereby protect the hair from damage.
Do not confuse keratin hair restoration with keratin straightening using an iron - these are two different procedures, the second of which is aimed specifically at straightening the hair structure along its entire length, but not at restoring it.
The difference between the procedures is that during keratin hair restoration, a specialized product with a high concentration of a molecular protein-keratin is absorbed into the hair structure at the biochemical level and forms new bonds between damaged keratin fibers and protective keratin scales. But with keratin hair straightening, the keratin agent covers the hair, as if enveloping it with a new layer of keratin coating (artificial) with simultaneous straightening along the entire length.
Hair restoration at the molecular level is not an easy thing, because under external mechanical and chemical influences, polypeptide bonds between the keratin protein molecules are destroyed, which in a normal state give the hair elasticity and elasticity (these qualities prevent hair from breaking, dissection), that is, they do not give keratin bundles fibers disintegrate into separate fibers. Keratin hair restoration is aimed at restoring these bonds.
As for the popular opinion that the structure of damaged hair can be restored through proper nutrition, it should be noted that in any living highly developed organism, tissue trophism (tissue nutrition) is carried out through blood supply. The regrown hair itself (its shaft) is not supplied with blood vessels. All nutrition ends at the level of the hair follicle. It is at its condition and functioning that healthy nutrition is directed, which contributes to the new growth of full-fledged hair. And already regrown and damaged hair cannot be restored with vitamin and mineral complexes - only by external influence at the molecular level.
