Why are illusions needed?
All at least once in their life have heard the phrase: "Do not build illusions!" But did anyone wonder: "Why not?"
Illusions are the substitution of some images for others, but one should not confuse illusions with hallucinations. Illusions are speculative tricks of existing objects, while hallucinations are visions of an object that is not where it is seen.
Illusions paint pictures in moments when a person is tormented by insoluble problems, or he experiences stress, which illusions soften. The brain, with the help of illusions, protects the human psyche from psychological trauma.
Illusions are not life-threatening, but many of them give a person unrealizable hopes, which means they make him waste time, say, on achieving some result.
Do I need to get rid of illusions? If people knew exactly what is illusory and what is not, they would spend their time in life much more efficiently. But the trouble is that the human psyche cannot always quickly switch from an unnecessary business, interest, object to the necessary things. And in such cases, illusions serve as a way of adapting the psyche to any circumstances for which a person is not psychologically ready.
Illusions soften the painful phenomena that arise on the path of life, make it possible to prepare for the worst development of events, if any, postpone moments of disappointment. Illusions without drugs can normalize the life of a person suffering from anxiety and nervous tension, which means that a person needs illusions to maintain mental health.
