What is naturopathy?
The predecessor of scientific medicine was natural medicine - one that offered treatment with natural remedies. This is where naturopathy originates - an alternative medicine that uses natural sources for treatment with beneficial properties.
The methods of naturopathy include: curative fasting, aromatherapy, hirudotherapy, herbal medicine, heliotherapy, thalassotherapy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and the like. This also includes hypnosis, massage, meditation, qigong therapy, auto-training, music therapy and other possibilities of non-drug and non-surgical intervention.
Most people consider naturopathy safe, but in fact this is not true, since some processes occurring in the human body can be tied to natural psycho-physical influences. For example, you can put a person into a state of trance and bring him out of this state, while disturbing the mental balance. Massage, acupuncture and similar methods of influence can change the state of tissues in an initially not very healthy body, worsening rather than improving health. Herbal medicine is not at all inert, it can activate side effects, which in the future it will be difficult or almost impossible to get rid of.
Some methods of naturopathy are not welcomed by scientific medicine due to the lack of evidence of their effectiveness, but the presence of statistics of unsuccessful results. Treatment of many diseases is delayed due to unnecessarily wasted time spent on alternative procedures.
Before resorting to methods of naturopathy, it does not hurt to consult with your doctor if there are any possibilities of scientifically justified treatment.
