My own psychologist >>>> Procrastination is a feature of human nature
Procrastination is a feature of human nature.
Have you ever noticed such a trait as shirking important things in the midst of a working time? Have you noticed? So you are a procrastinator, a fan of postponing things "until tomorrow", and maybe "forever", if it turns out that you are already late with some business!
Procrastination is not a disease, but a feature of human nature associated with the inability of the psyche to withstand working stress. It is rather a way to relieve stress in a situation where a person intuitively understands that he cannot cope with the given volume of cases, and finds a way out of this situation - decides to postpone important cases and move on to matters of secondary importance.
The procrastinator does not understand the saying “The eyes are afraid, but the hands are doing” and all things that have piled on him begin to postpone, delay, or even cease to bring them to the end. Things are piling up like a snowball, piling on the procrastinator, but he doesn't care, he postponed it and forgot it for a while, until the moment when the tension in work subsides and it will be possible to slowly do the postponed work.
Reasons for procrastination:
- weak psyche, unstable to stress,
- disorganization and tendency to accumulate cases,
- lack of consistency in the implementation of work,
- absent-mindedness,
- violation of concentration of attention on a certain matter and restlessness.
The result of procrastination is things that were done somehow in a short period of time, wasted time for their implementation and the worst case - scolding from the boss and in the future lack of trust in the procrastinator as an employee. This means that salary increases, promotions or any other encouragement cannot be expected.
How to deal with procrastination:
- Correctly allocate time allotted for work (for example, write a to-do list for today, tomorrow, etc.),
- Work on business tasks systematically (if the case requires more than one day of work),
- Sort cases by importance and solve urgent problems first,
- Do not drive yourself into stress by laziness and accumulation of cases (first business, and then rest).
