My own psychologist >>>> Impulsive purchases
Impulsive purchases.
All people, to one degree or another, are inclined to exert pressure on the actions of others, thereby forcing the latter to take actions that are beneficial for those who exert pressure. But there is no need to change the world around us globally, it is enough to change something in yourself and get quick dividends from this. Start with impulse purchases, or rather, abandon them!
What are impulse purchases? When we go to the store for groceries, household appliances or materials for repairs, we first plan what exactly we need to buy, and, as a rule, we stick to the list. But when it comes to shopping for the sake of recreation and entertainment, then there is a great danger of acquiring things that are absolutely not necessary for life, and thereby wasting the funds in vain.
The most interesting thing about impulsive shopping behavior is the programmed behavior of the buyer, that is, ourselves! In marketing, there are technologies that provoke purchases of one kind or another, and a person who wants to save money and not make impulse purchases is required to develop resistance to this kind of technology.
It has long been known that a person spends money unreasonably under the influence of several factors:
- In order to acquire a thing that everyone or most people have;
- Under the influence of snobbery, that is, when trying to stand out in some way from the background of other people;
- Under the influence of an economic situation that requires spending money in order not to lose it in inflation or monetary reform;
- In the case of the prestige of a thing that has a known high price and changes the status of a person in the eyes of others;
- Under the influence of mood, momentary whim, whim, sudden impulse.
All of these factors lead to unnecessary waste of money, which can be avoided if you control your buying behavior.
Under the influence of a changing mood or a whim, you can "drain" a decent amount of money in the store, which you will regret spending in a few days. Buying your favorite chewing gum, candy, or drink bottle is an impulse purchase, but with little loss of money. Buying spontaneously knick-knacks for the interior, gifts not for the holiday, items of clothing, a set of cosmetics, shoes, accessories or jewelry is an impulsive purchase with significant expenses.
When you get to the mall, you should know that this is an aggressive environment with marketers, merchandisers and sellers, which aims to entice you into a purchase, that is, not always a justified waste of money. Therefore, while taking walks in places where you can spend money, try to control your consumer impulses, and then, perhaps, you will not have everything that everyone has, but you will become the owner of significant savings that most may not have. Think about it!
